Privacy policy

Last updated 5 July 2026

This policy explains how the Macclesfield Muslim Community Centre (“we”, “us”, “the masjid”) collects, uses and protects your personal information, and your rights under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018). We are the data controller for the information you give us. MMCC is the working name of Macclesfield Muslim Community Centre, a registered charity in England & Wales (no. 1188556), 50 Waters Green, Macclesfield SK11 6JT.

The information we collect

When you make a Gift Aid declaration, we collect:

  • your title (optional), first name and last name;
  • your home address and postcode;
  • your email address and phone number, if you give them;
  • your confirmation that you are a UK taxpayer;
  • the date of your declaration and a record of the donations it covers.

HMRC requires your name and home address so we can identify you as a UK taxpayer when we claim Gift Aid. If you contact us by email or phone, we keep that correspondence too.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

  • To claim Gift Aid. We process your declaration on the basis of your consent, and to meet our legal obligations to HMRC once a claim is made. You can withdraw your consent at any time by asking us to cancel your declaration.
  • To keep proper records. We keep Gift Aid records to comply with HMRC rules (a legal obligation) and to administer donations to the masjid (our legitimate interest in running the charity properly).

Who we share it with

We share the minimum necessary information with HMRC in order to claim Gift Aid on your donations. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone else for marketing. We may share information where the law requires us to.

How long we keep it

HMRC requires us to keep Gift Aid declarations and related records for at least six years after the end of the tax year of the most recent donation we claimed Gift Aid on. Enduring declarations are kept for as long as they remain valid, and then for that same period.

Keeping it safe

Your information is stored securely and access is limited to the volunteers who administer donations and Gift Aid. Our site runs on Cloudflare’s infrastructure within the UK and EU.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct anything that is wrong;
  • ask us to delete your information, where we are not required to keep it;
  • ask us to restrict or object to how we use it;
  • withdraw your consent and cancel your Gift Aid declaration at any time.

Contact us

To exercise any of these rights, or if you have a question about your information, email us atmacclesfieldmuslimcentre@gmail.com, or write to us at 50 Waters Green, Macclesfield SK11 6JT.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office atico.org.uk.
